As one of the earliest incorporated cities in its region, Newport Beach might well be considered the prototypical OC beach town. For existing in a region that is quite thoroughly developed with residential space, Newport Beach affords easy access to open, green areas: Crystal Cove State Park lies just to the southeast. Living in Newport Beach is expensive, from home ownership to the cost of living, but it is widely considered one of the finer locales in Southern California.
