The healthcare and entertainment industries are prominent facets of Santa Monica’s economy, but of course its myriad restaurants and stores provide a significant number of jobs as well. Many, many people commute in and out of Santa Monica daily. Be advised that traffic moving east is dreadfully bad during rush hour. If you want to live somewhere with high walkability and/or bikeability, Santa Monica could be perfect for you, as most normal tasks can be accomplished via non-vehicular means of transportation.
