West Hills is a low-population-density, high-median-income neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. Along with Woodland Hills, its neighbor to the south, West Hills occupies the westernmost territory in the City of Los Angeles. Because it lies so far to the west, West Hills is predictably more suburban than most of the rest of the Valley region; with the Santa Susana Mountains to the north and the Santa Monica Mountains to the south, green spaces and gorgeous views abound. West Hills is blanketed with, well, hills, with many ranches in its flatter territory. More than 87% of West Hills residents own their homes, which is commensurate with the upscale character of the area. Large, single-family units are vastly more common than rental space. West Hills is not especially easy to access, but of course many residents prefer its hidden-away feel. Its primary throughways are the 118 and 101 freeways and Topanga Canyon Blvd.
